Fittings, carabiners, and materials
MATERIALS
We use four types of waterproof tape to make our products. All tapes are PVC/TPU tapes, but they differ in terms of manufacturer and properties.
Hexa (honeycomb) - webbing tape covered with a waterproof coating,
sold by Pet hardware, from the Czech Republic,
has a honeycomb pattern on both sides,
softer and more flexible compared to smooth and Biothane tape,
lighter than smooth and Biothane
Smooth - webbing tape covered with a waterproof coating
sold by Pet Hardware, Czech Republic,
stiffer than hexa and Biothane,
more durable than hexa,
may stiffen in frost
Biothane BETA ® - webbing covered with a waterproof coating,
created, patented, and manufactured by Biothane in the USA,
softer and more flexible compared to smooth webbing,
more durable than hexa and smooth
PawTex ® - webbing tape covered with a waterproof coating,
similarly soft to hexa,
has a smooth surface,
more durable than Hexa, Smooth and Biothane tapes (according to manufacturers' technical data)
All these types of webbing have in common the fact that they are webbing covered with a waterproof coating. Hexa and smooth webbing are commonly referred to as such, while Biothane® and PawTex® webbing are patented and reserve the use of these names for their products. In addition, Biothane has its own original labels, and when you buy dog accessories made of this material from us, you always get them with the original label.
SAFETY (Provided by the supplier of Hexa and Smooth tapes)
Each width of Hexa and Smooth tapes has been thoroughly tested in a certified laboratory. This allows us to know the exact breaking load values. Watch the test video or read the test report.
The health safety of Hexa and Smooth tapes has been thoroughly tested in an accredited laboratory. The results confirm that the tape material does not contain any harmful substances and is safe even with prolonged contact with skin or animal fur. Detailed information can be found in the official health safety report.

FITTINGS
Fittings - all metal elements used in accessories - leashes, collars, dog harnesses, e.g. carabiners/rivets, rings, half rings.

Silver fittings:
are not corrosion-resistant, so avoid contact with salt water,
are scratch-resistant, so if you use your accessories “hardcore,” they will be better than rose gold and black fittings.
Black and rose gold fittings:
they are lacquered, which means that the lacquer may wear off depending on use. If you want to avoid this, choose silver or brass fittings.
they are not corrosion resistant, so avoid contact with salt water.
Brass fittings:
perfect for use in seawater as they are corrosion resistant,
they can oxidize and darken as a result. This is not a defect, but a natural feature of brass. To prevent this, the surface of the material should be coated with a colorless, transparent synthetic varnish.
They are heavier than other fittings, so take this into account when choosing accessories for tiny dogs.
Snap hook or spring hook?
Spring hook
is the most popular type of leash fastener.
It is easy to unfasten and fasten with a light press.
It is not heavy.
It may get stuck in sand until rinsed with water.
The trigger carabiner
opens like scissors, spreading apart to the sides.
It is slightly heavier than the spring-loaded carabiner,
does not jam in sand,
and requires more pressure to open than the spring-loaded carabiner.
Mountaineering carabiner
is the strongest type of carabiner,
it is very light,
fast fastening,
the version with a lock prevents accidental unfastening.
HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT CARABINER?
When choosing a carabiner for your dog's leash, pay attention to the maximum load, length, and weight of the carabiner.
For dogs that pull strongly on the leash:
if your dog weighs 8 kg, choose a carabiner with a load capacity of over 80 kg
if your dog weighs 20 kg, choose a carabiner with a load capacity of over 200 kg
if your dog does not pull/jerk on the leash for most of the walk, you can choose a carabiner with a lower resistance.
Remember that each carabiner has a different weight, so a large carabiner may be too heavy and uncomfortable for a small dog!
Brass carabiners are much heavier than others!
